Job Description
Brookfield Properties has an immediate need for a Senior Business Analyst at our corporate office in Chicago, Illinois.
This position requires a candidate who is both technically-savvy and business-focused. You will also be responsible for partnering closely with business leaders and technical teams to combine business and technical perspectives into cohesive and effective solutions that provide exceptional business value. You will be responsible for supporting multiple concurrent high visibility projects that cross several business departments in a fast-paced environment. You will quickly learn functional aspects of the retail real estate industry. We are seeking someone who wants to be a part of a world-class organization that delivers results, grows and retains top talent and is focused on building solutions based on sound architectural principles and operating per industry-leading frameworks. As a member of a self-organizing Agile team, you will contribute to the team's adherence to the agile values and principles within the software development lifecycle. It is important that you encourage self-sufficiency within the team while identifying risk, bringing up issues, and removing impediments to drive process improvements.
Key Responsibilities• Obtain a deep understanding of relevant business area(s) to be able to shape requirements and suggest alternatives to proposed solutions while building high-quality detailed functional requirements.• Understand technical options, limitations, costs and risks. Communicate tradeoffs to business partners and work with them to build requirements accordingly.• Work with business and delivery teams to prioritize requirements.• Help resolve competing priorities between stakeholder groups by facilitating stakeholder discussions and escalate issues where appropriate.• Create artifacts as appropriate, including business case documentation, scope documentation and process flows.• Review delivery team output to ensure requirements are correctly interpreted, define and execute test cases.• Document current processes and models to understand inefficiencies or gaps.• Help drive automation initiatives through end to end process definition artifacts, workflows and ideation sessions in order to continuously build on our automation backlog. Our Automation Center of Excellence focuses on the intake, governance and delivery of automation initiatives to our business partners.• Play an active role in agile activities and ceremonies including daily stand-up meetings, sprint reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning and product backlog refinement sessions.• Champion and facilitate the adoption of agile standards, tools and best practices.• Contribute to the advancement and improvement of agile practices within the organization.• Active participant in QA testing and regression testing activities.• Creates test scripts and facilitates user acceptance testing.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required• Bachelor's degree in business or other technology or related discipline.• [3-5] years of experience in business analysis.• [1-3] years of experience with agile software development lifecycle• Experience determining the explicit and implicit needs and requirements of various stakeholders in order to identify areas of improvement.• Ability to quickly learn the objectives, structures, operations and policies of a new business area.• Strong problem resolution, negotiation, and influencing skills.• Demonstrated ability to engage both developers and business partners to achieve target outcomes.• Proven interpersonal skills and an ability to influence senior leaders and peers.• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information in a condensed manner to various stakeholders verbally and in writing.• Experience creating documentation such as business case documentation or business requirements summaries.• Deep knowledge of agile development methodologies, practices, frameworks, techniques and agile planning tools such as Jira.• Comfortable with flexibility in day to day work and ability to adjust to shifting demands and scope changes.• Demonstrates strong desire and ability to work in a team setting and seeks input from mentors.• Project management certification preferred (e.g. PMP).• Background in the Real Estate Industry is preferred.• Proficiency with the use of the Jira Application.
