We are seeking an energetic and highly motivated person to join our team as a Senior Business Analyst working from any of our office locations or remotely. As a Senior Business Analyst, you will play a key role on project teams, comprised of technical and non-technical staff, to lead requirements gathering, system design and analysis, and process implementation to ensure successful project delivery. As part of the Systems and Technology department, this position requires a high degree of technical aptitude related to systems and software development and a willingness to develop technical knowledge to meet project demands.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the business systems that support project delivery to analyze and design solutions.
  • Lead the requirements elicitation process within the project team to develop business and technical requirements in an Agile or Waterfall framework.
  • Independently lead project conversations with limited upfront requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between project teams and technical staff.
  • Manage the scope of the project's business requirements in coordination with the project manager and project leadership.
  • Manage, own, and delegate tasks derived from business requirements.
  • Document business processes and identify opportunities to improve processes.
  • Identify technology solutions that may address business requirements.
  • Develop processes for project implementation.
  • Coordinate with quality assurance staff to develop acceptance criteria and test plans.
  • Mentor junior staff within the context of project work and the business analyst team.
  • Actively support the advancement of organizational diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, and apply diversity, equity, and inclusion lens across job responsibilities.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in technology or a business-related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience gathering, managing, and documenting business requirements.
  • A combination of equivalent education and work experience may be substituted for the above requirements.
  • Experience with software and system development, data, and databases.
  • Strong understanding of the software development life cycle and Agile business analysis.
  • Ability to translate verbal communications to written requirements.
  • Experience writing and grooming user stories.
  • Ability to understand project plans and clearly articulate roles, project goals, and timelines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to execution of tasks of varying complexity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with others.
  • Flexibility to handle multiple priorities, sometimes simultaneously, under deadline pressure.
  • Strong understanding of system design techniques, data analysis, or survey development.
  • Strong understanding of collaboration tools such as the Atlassian suite of products (Jira and Confluence), Mural, and Microsoft Visio.
  • Desired but not required: experience writing technical specs, web design (UI), user experience (UX), or SQL.

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of $88,000 to $125,000. This position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.

Various federal agencies with whom we contract require that staff successfully undergo a background investigation or security clearance as a condition of working on the project. If you are assigned to such a project, you will be required to obtain the requisite security clearance. Must be able to pass a public trust background investigation.
