About the Role
Rocket Lawyer, the world’s first global legal platform, is looking for a Business Development leader to run our global business initiatives. The Business Development organization at Rocket Lawyer is focused on GTM and scaling Rocket Lawyer’s most innovative API platform. In this role, you will partner with the VP of Product Enterprise to help define, build and execute on innovative business strategies that will help Rocket Lawyer scale its business globally.Â
Please note: This role requires demonstrated success in advancing and growing an API business. This entails experience working with a SAAS B2B product, preferably a SaaS B2B2C Product.
The ideal candidate brings an entrepreneurial spirit, an eagerness to learn and lead, a strong curiosity, and must be comfortable with ambiguity. A background in FinTech, SaaS, B2B/B2B2C software, or SMB software is preferred. You will need exceptional business acumen, commercial creativity and relationship-building skills as well as experience working and leading cross-functional teams.Â
They will be driving important partnerships from inception through joint go-to-market activities. A background in marketing and/or developer evangelism is preferred, but not required.
A Day in the Life:
- Work directly with the VP of Business Development & Chief Product Officer to define, develop, and execute on sales strategy for the API business
- Explore, execute and manage partnerships and other business development opportunities required to scale Rocket Lawyer’s business in the US and internationallyÂ
- Manages Opportunities, accounts, contacts, leads, and ensure action items are captured for internal consumption
- Size opportunities and provide financial forecasting for deals to help with technical and operational prioritization
- Negotiate agreements with partners in order to find mutually beneficial terms
- Liaise between partners and internal tech teams in order to advocate for partner feature requests, bugs and escalations during implementation
- Lead & influence a cross-functional team (e.g., product, engineering, marketing, finance, legal) to operationalize the operating model pre and post deal
Qualifications:
- Please note: This role requires demonstrated success in advancing and growing an API business. This entails experience working with a SAAS B2B product, preferably a SaaS B2B2C Product.
- BA/BS
- 7+ years of strategy, business development and partnerships experience
- Demonstrated success in advancing and growing an API business, preferably B2B2C SaaS but not required
- Oversee each step of the business development lifecycle: Strategy/planning, pipeline development, prospecting, outreach, terms negotiation, contract drafting, and implementation
- Good sense and knowledge on terms & conditions and legal contract issues
- Success building senior-level and cross functional relationships quickly and effectively internally and at partner organizations
- Ability to communicate clearly and distill complexity into action
- Excellent project management ability, capable of leading multiple time-sensitive cross-functional projects
- Active interest in increasing customer satisfaction and empathy for your partners and customers
