Senior Business Insight Analyst, Data Engineer
Job Description
We are currently looking for a Senior Business Insight Analyst, Data Engineer to join our team at our North American Headquarters in Franklin, TN. This is a 100% remote position.
Collaborates with Data Scientists, IS/IT, and other insights analysts to support department/business function data & analytics needs and inform decision makers. Applies data engineering skills to projects requiring data collection and cleansing. Enables timely analysis and diagnostics, supports assimilation, analysis, and distribution of data & fine-tunes data products and visualizations in analytics platforms/processes to achieve business goals. Routinely coordinates with various departments/business functions to prevent duplication of effort and streamline data and analysis to support current and future analytical needs.

- Interfaces regularly with business functions to understand data and analytic needs and provide guidance on optimal use of available data, analysis and reports to support those needs.
- Support data science and other analytic efforts through data collection, cleansing, and transformation.
- Interface with IS/IT for data pipeline needs, collaborative data curation, certification, and appropriate data product sourcing along with data catalog input/feedback
- Understand key drivers of performance and explore how existing data and analytics solutions can support achievement of desired business outcomes.
- Provides analytical insights on effectiveness of, and opportunities for, utilization of data & analytics tools/resources at Nissan HQ, affiliates & plants and provides consult on use cases.
- Maintain and distribute visualizations & analysis at the relevant global, national, regional and local market level.
- Monitor that existing analytical tools & data products are continually meeting the needs of the business and that routine reports and visualizations are streamlined to improve and minimize duplication of effort for assigned analysts and decision makers.
- Assists in validating quality and accuracy of raw data that is utilized for analysis. Coordinates with staff, stakeholders, outside vendors and internal IS department to ensure accurate and effective analysis. Identifies information gaps and works with related departments to meet current analytical needs.
- Partner with other analysts, and IS/IT for enterprise data literacy across Nissan.
- Data consumption includes data governance activities, data cleansing, profiling/scorecarding, use of sandboxes for data preparation & ensuring use of data is in compliance with all internal and external requirements
Minimum Qualifications
The following statements reflect the minimum skills and abilities required of the qualified applicant.
1. Job Knowledge and Skill:
In-depth and proven knowledge of industry/departmental/business function data and sources, consistent with level of job function or specialty. Ability to properly integrate multiple sources of information while maintaining data integrity and usefulness. Direct experience analyzing data for trends and insights and development of compelling stories with data. Demonstrated experience using SQL, R, and Python. Working experience with analytics tools & technologies for presenting data operationally and visually.
2. Relationship and Communications Skills
Ability to communicate successfully with clients at all levels to understand their needs and match it to the complex set of data that it may require to be compiled and analyzed. The ability to explain complex analysis in such a way that it can be used effectively by decision makers. Ability to communicate with highly technical individuals about the desires, insights and observations of the business and to ensure development and deployment of appropriate solutions.
3. Education and Experience:
A bachelor's degree in quantitative or business related field is required. A total of 5 years of data transformation, analytics, and insight experience with increasing responsibility within a large scale corporate organization. Experience working in an agile environment (scrum and Kanban). Automotive experience is a plus.
4. Technical Skills
Experience with SQL, R, Python, scripting, ETL, or data preparation/wrangling. Working knowledge of database software, spreadsheets, and other applications used to create specialized reports and applications of a highly technical nature. Tableau visual analytics experience a plus (or comparable tools). Experience with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL), Hadoop, or cloud-based databases & platforms. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
