Senior Business Intelligence Analyst

Techstars is seeking an experienced Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to join our growing team of investment professionals. In this critical role, you will play an instrumental part in shaping our operations and analytics strategy and providing vital insights to support ambitious entrepreneurs worldwide. As an integral member of the Techstars Engineering team, you will take ownership of delivering a suite of data and analytics solutions to support various departments, including engineering, program management, revenue, and services teams.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Business Intelligence Analyst who possesses comprehensive expertise in designing, modeling, delivering, and maintaining data products. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully building end-to-end solutions within industry environments. This includes proficiency in various stages of the data lifecycle, from ideation to the acquisition and construction of relevant data from diverse internal and external sources.

About the role:

• Technical Solution Development: Demonstrate deep expertise and understanding of developing and delivering data-driven solutions, utilizing your technical skills to drive innovative and effective solutions.
• Data preparation: Engineer robust data pipelines that automate the collection, aggregation, cleaning, validation, and testing of structured and unstructured datasets from a variety of public and private sources.
• Data analysis: Engineer well-structured analytical frameworks and methodologies composed of quantitative and statistical models to extract meaningful insights and drive data-informed decision-making.
• Data & model narratives: Design clear, actionable, data-driven insights to support operational decision-making, strategic planning, performance management, and process optimization activities within the organization.
• Communication: Clearly communicate, document, and iterate objectives with an interdisciplinary team of professionals on the Engineering team; collaborate with key partners across the business (Accelerator Investments, Engineering, Portfolio Services, Finance, Legal, Marketing, Sales, Executive).

Qualifications

• 5+ years of work experience in a business intelligence role;
• Experience with in-depth analysis in the Financial Services or Venture Capital required.
• Proven expertise in cleaning data and developing repeatable processes for consistent analysis from various data sources.
• Expertise in SQL for data manipulation and extraction.
• Familiarity with Tableau or similar data visualization tools, enabling the creation of interactive and visually compelling reports and dashboards.
• Programming skills in Python, including experience with libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, and Scikit-learn, for advanced data analysis and visualization.
• Familiarity with advanced analytics techniques such as forecasting, segmentation, clustering, or regression analysis to uncover hidden patterns and drive predictive insights.
• Proficiency in spreadsheet tools such as Excel and Google Sheets, leveraging their functionalities to organize and analyze data effectively.
• Demonstrated experience working with private markets data (e.g. Pitchbook, Crunchbase, etc.).
• Understanding of data governance principles and best practices to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Passion for data analytics and a keen ability to derive valuable insights.
• Intellectual curiosity, and a desire to constantly learn and grow.
• The ability to work both independently and within a team; possess a congenial disposition, an entrepreneurial spirit, and have comfort in an informal work environment.

Compensation range: $125,000 - $145,000 with 10% bonus
