Job Description:
Description: The Senior Business Intelligence Data Analyst is responsible for leading the delivery of accurate and complete reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for their assigned department. This position is responsible for leading the efforts to gather requirements from hospital and ambulatory executives, specifications, designing and developing solutions, testing, validation and testing, implementation and ongoing support of business intelligence solutions and dashboard. The data for each business unit may be in the form of excel files and database queries, or may not exist and may need collaboration between the business unit, IT and operations. The Senior Business Intelligence Data Analyst works in the IT department and collaborates with the business unit to facilitate reporting using Epic tools on departmental metrics. This position will utilize reporting tools including Crystal Reports or Power BI to develop reports and dashboard.
Typical Duties:
- Leads the delivery of accurate and complete reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for their assigned department.
- Mentors junior data analysts and review their work before it is published in the organization.
- Leads specifications requirement for reports working with hospital and ambulatory executives.
- Responsible for specifications, designing and developing solutions, testing, validation and testing, implementation and ongoing support of business intelligence solutions and dashboard.
- Analyzes, completes and develops complex business intelligence data, report and dashboard requests.
- Develops reports for assigned clarity modules and systems by performing workflow assessments, capturing business needs, and analyzing systems to determine functional requirements and capture data while mentoring other analysts.
- Leads complex projects including designing and developing business intelligence reports and dashboard solutions using SQL, stored procedures, Microsoft Power BI, and Radar Dashboard.
- Analyzes patient population data to develop performance improvement plans and strategies through analysis of related data and trends using SQL.
- Reports results of statistical analyses, including information in the form of graphs, charts, and tables.
- Analyzes and interprets statistical data to identify significant differences in relationships among sources of information using statistical formulas.
- Synthesizes current business intelligence or trend data to support recommendations for action.
- Checks source data to verify completeness and accuracy including end to end data validation before report is released in the production environment.
- Analyzes variances and data trends and prepare reports, charts and other outputs as required. Converts information into insightful findings and actionable recommendations to optimize existing and future operations across the company.
- Provides high-quality recurring and ad-hoc performance reports to assist senior management with operational decisions, as required.
- Prepares a monthly reporting package that includes clinical, financial, operational, competitive, and patient satisfaction metrics to analyze key business trends.
- Analyzes and completes business intelligence report and dashboard requests and provides support for assigned Epic applications and systems under guidance from management.
- Performs testing and data validation for reports and dashboard delivering accurate reports and solutions.
- Modifies existing reports and creates additional basic reports as required.
Qualifications:
- Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor Degree in Information Technology or High School Diploma with equivalent experience.
- 2 years' of experience in data analysis
- 2 plus years of IT relational database SQL reporting experience.
- Experience building MS Access databases or Power BI dashboards.
- Experience presenting and sharing insights from data to all levels of an organization.
- 2 plus years of related experience in a healthcare environment.
- 2 Plus years Epic Clarity experience.
- Building MS Access databases and Power BI dashboards.
- Must obtain current proficiency or certification in assigned data model(s). (i.e.) Epic certification in appropriate module(s) required within specified time frame following class completion and analyst who support Epic modules must maintain certification on current version of Epic.
- Successfully completed the Microsoft Querying Microsoft SQL Server 2012/2014 Exam (70-461)
