Senior Business Intelligence Engineer

There are a variety of important business systems at Amperity generating useful data about our business. To facilitate "getting dirty in the data" and running a metrics driven business, we need a robust infrastructure for analytics.

The focus of this role is building a secure and reliable data warehouse environment full of high quality data that enables people to use data to promote the business. This includes but is not limited to metrics dashboards, ad-hoc analyses, and automated reporting / alerting.

• Architect and build Amperity's internal Modern Data Stack using best-in-class tools
• Combine data from across the business to create easy-to-use, high quality data assets that help drive data-driven decisions in the business
• Establish a data quality framework to assess the quality of data at all stages of the pipeline
• Work with stakeholders from every team who contribute to and consume from the data assets to improve quality, expand, and drive business value
• Support creation of visual tools to allow users to consume the asset, from dashboards to interactive query tools

• Curious and excited to learn about data needs from a variety of business stakeholders (from engineering nerds to finance nerds to sales nerds)
• Problem solver, excited by the process of figuring out why x doesn't match y or where the heck z went (it was just here...)
• Highly proficient in modern SQL, especially on analytics-oriented cloud data warehouses (including designing for performance)
• 5+ years of experience with version control, continuous integration and other systems to support data change management with quality (e.g. Git, CircleCI, dbt)
• 5+ years experience with at least one modern visualization tool (Tableau, Looker, Mode)
• Highly organized and passionate about well managed projects
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with workflow / task running systems (e.g. Airflow, prefect, Dagster)
