What You Will Do

The Senior Buyer uses expertise for a range of purchasing activities, including pricing, and negotiating with suppliers to reach highest quality at best value. Performs complex purchasing activities, while ensuring procurement procedures are following government laws, regulations, and management objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Performs complex purchasing activities including pricing, volume discounts, negotiating terms and long-term contracts with suppliers, and delivery of goodsservices.
  • Negotiates best terms (price, delivery, and payment terms) with suppliers, while maintaining efficient output of purchase orders to reach highest quality at best value.
  • Establishes source selection criteria for evaluation of quotations including target pricing.
  • Implements formal and legal contractual documentation into the purchase orders, encompassing all corporate and government requirements.
  • Resolves discrepancies between purchase order requirements and supplier performance.
  • Ensures compliance to government laws, regulations and procurement policies and procedures.
  • Identifies problem areas, initiates corrective action and establishes problem resolution dates in a timely manner.
  • Maintains current and accurate purchase order data in the purchasing system (e.g., delivery dates, pricing, change orders)
  • Engage early in the R&D development process to ensure preferred suppliers are being utilized wherever possible in the new product designs.
  • Support the Purchasing team to implement risk mitigation plans for single sourced suppliers and identify single sourced suppliers early in the development phase
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements

  • 7+ years of buying experience; APICS Certification a plus.
  • Experience working with Dynamics, ERP, CRM, and other advanced software systems a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and vendor management skills.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of Procurement in Life Science manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated Project management skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Products (Excel, PPT etc).
  • Strong collaboration and cross-functional skills.
  • Working knowledge of RFP’s, RFQ’s, required.
  • Experience working with R&D. Regulated industries desirable.
  • Experience in purchasing multiple commodities. (Electronics, Plastics, Mechanical, etc.)

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations.

Benefits
