We are currently seeking a Senior C++ Developer to join the Cross-cutting Urgent Innovation Cell (CUIC), an organization that is unique to MITRE because:

We are looking for talented problem solvers with a passion for adapting emerging academic and commercial technologies to develop cross-cutting innovative solutions for the defense, intelligence, and civilian communities.

A Senior C++ Developer is needed who possesses a breadth of technical skills and strong programming capability. This position involves computer vision, image processing, vehicle routing, numerical optimization, clustering, statistical inference, computer graphics, or other types of geometric or geospatial reasoning. These programs are used to generate and assess results and extract key lessons learned. Successful candidate(s) will learn new techniques and approaches on-the-job, working in collaboration with other team members.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline and work experience with a strong technical background with 3 or more years of related experience with a strong technical background.
• At least 5 years of experience using C++ on a regular basis (either professionally or as a hobby), including familiarity with templates and advanced language features.
• Experience with developing and debugging models using programming tools.
• Experience with high performance computing / scientific computing / parallel programming.
• Experience with modern source control software and methodology, including version control with Git and code reviews in a GitHub Flow-like development workflow.
• Proficient problem-solving and communications skills desired, as well as an interest in working in a highly collaborative environment with scientists, analysts, and technical experts across several technical disciplines.
• Desire to learn new techniques and approaches on-the-job by leveraging structured educational content, as well as expertise from team members.
• Hands-on experience in adapting research done in academia and industry to "real-world" challenging data sources and problems sets.
• Obtain and maintain a TS/SCI level security clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

• Comfortable with reading and implementing mathematical algorithms from research papers.
• Experience using a variety of different numerical optimization techniques in prior work, and a general understanding of available numerical optimization techniques, their applicability, pros, and cons to different types of optimization problems.
• Familiarity/Experience in one or more of the following: image processing, computer vision, computer graphics.
• Strong math skills including linear algebra, calculus, trigonometry, projective geometry.
• Possess an active TS/SCI Level Clearance.

• Masters or PhD with research experience in one of the above specified degree programs.
