Senior C++ Software Engineer
Job Description
219 Design isn't just another Silicon Valley product development firm. 219 was started by engineers, for engineers. For almost 20 years, we've been helping companies invent products that push the boundaries of possibility, challenge the status quo, and change the world we live in. Our clients are leaders in industries that include medical devices, surgical robotics, industrial automation, consumer electronics, merchandising, automotive, transportation, and more. 219ers have improved patient outcomes, changed the way we interact with technology, and revolutionized products. We have offices in San Francisco and Mountain View CA (both a 10 minute walk from Caltrain), as well as Raleigh NC's Research Triangle.
Working at 219
We believe that iteration is key to developing great products AND to forming a great workplace. We regularly try new things in the office, keeping what works and letting go of what doesn't. Engineers at 219 work together in a closely knit and highly collaborative interdisciplinary team, across industries, on a variety of technologies. Continuous learning is a necessity and a passion so 219ers have a high level of expertise - often across disciplines. Most 219ers are currently in a "hybrid" work mode and spend some time in the office with teammates, some time at home, and even occasionally take advantage of our short term "work-from-wherever" policy.
As a software engineer at 219 Design, you will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software as part of an interdisciplinary team, managing individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
Requirements

- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Participate in code reviews by providing timely feedback to peers in a constructive manner.
- Collaborate with 219ers across engineering disciplines during development.
- Define and execute tasks required to complete projects with well-defined or open-ended requirements.
- Participate in weekly Software Discussion meetings to discuss best practices and share project triumphs and struggles that could benefit from the input of others.
- Chime in on our Slack channels when you see an opportunity to help out a colleague.
- Maintain awareness of bigger picture context for 219 Design and our clients while executing tasks.
Qualifications
- BS degree (or higher) in Computer Science or a similar field of study, or equivalent work experience
- 4+ years experience as a software engineer
- Proficiency with C++ development
- Track record of success with the development of complex systems
- Excited and able to work on medical and other safety-critical devices
