Senior Citrix Engineer

Accountability Statement

The Senior Citrix Engineer will support, design, build and configure VyStar's Citrix environment. This role will serve as a technical subject matter expert by providing suggestions for improvements, technical direction, and problem resolution within the Citrix environment. They will review the environment to validate implemented technologies, improve performance, reliability and ensure security practices are followed. Under limited supervision, the candidate will be required to effectively manage and prioritize assigned work, and design complex solutions to meet the needs of the business. The Senior Citrix Engineer will support and make recommendations in these areas with a high level of technical competency.

Essential Responsibilities

• Support and manage VyStar's Citrix environment and related infrastructure.
• Ensure the systems are functioning at optimal levels through system and application-level monitoring of the environment.
• Provide recommendations for new technologies and improvements.
• Design and build new systems, implement new technologies, and suggested improvements.
• Support Citrix WEM, StoreFront, PVS, and Desktop Delivery Controllers.
• Assist in the support of the Citrix ADC/NetScalers
• Support data center hardware design and build-out for the Citrix environment.
• Support the disaster recovery environment, while continuing to build and improve disaster recovery functionality.
• Assist in the design and rollout of cloud technologies in support of the Citrix environment.
• Provide guidance and an escalation path to junior engineers
• Establish and maintain system documentation, standards, and procedures.
• Assist with growth planning and forecasting to ensure on-premise hardware and cloud resources are available to support upcoming demands.
• Report necessary information to leadership to ensure the technical goals and objectives are met.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

• This position requires a 4-year degree in Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related academic area and a minimum of 8-years' experience as a Systems Engineer or a related position.
• Additional years of related experience in the field may be substituted for formal education.

Experience

• 5 to 7 years of Enterprise level work experience supporting Citrix; ideally in a financial services organization (or related industry).
• Technical certifications or equivalent work experience required: MCSE, VCP, CCP, or CCE
• The successful candidate will have experience designing enterprise-level environments for enterprises using hundreds of servers, many locations, and thousands of employees.
• Experience with establishing technology guidelines based on best practices in enterprise-level systems engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to lead major project initiatives from end to end

Skills & Abilities

• Must have expert knowledge in Citrix WEM, StoreFront, PVS, and Desktop Delivery Controllers.
• Strong documentation skills are required to document related technical procedures, operations manuals, and other guidance.
• Expert knowledge designing, implementing, and supporting Citrix virtual apps and desktops in a VMWare and Nutanix based environment.
• Firm understanding of Citrix MCS concepts in non-persistent and persistent VDI
• Expert level experience in Citrix NetScaler concepts around Citrix virtual app and desktop load balancing
• Firm understanding of Windows tuning with Citrix Optimization and BISF.
• Must have experience with converged and hyperconverged systems including Cisco UCS, Nutanix, and Dell servers.
• Expert knowledge of Citrix, Windows Server 2016/2019, Virtualization technologies such as VMware and AHV. Knowledge and experience required for cloud services including Microsoft Azure, and Citrix Cloud services.
• Advanced knowledge of troubleshooting issues around user network metrics with tools such as Citrix ADM, Control UP, and stratosphere.
• Experience with automation technologies and the ability to streamline processes
• Advanced troubleshooting abilities across multiple technologies and vendors. Able to calmly provide support on bridge lines during outages.
