Senior Cloud Database Administrator

The Team:
Cloud Platform and Infrastructure Engineering
The Role:
You'll be part of a distributed team across the US and Europe and responsible for making sure Celonis developers and customers have a performant and stable database foundation. You will own database operations such as upgrades, vacuum tuning, database migrations with minimum downtime - Celonis is a 24x7 business. You will work closely with Java application engineers to optimize and debug SQL queries and schema. You will also contribute with your expertise to the future of databases across different regions and clusters.
You should have a minimum of 6 years of experience operating PostgreSQL at scale. Azure experience is strongly preferred.
The qualifications you need:
Database Administrator Responsibilities:

• Enhance and perform monitoring for the fleet to ensure smooth operation
• Work closely with Azure support
• Perform debugging on PostgreSql system issues, for example, vacuum performance
• Document processes related to database management, configuration and maintenance
• Keep the fleet up to date with latest PostgreSql versions
• Work closely with application developers to help shape schema and SQL queries

Database Administrator Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in information systems, information technology, computer science, or similar
• In-depth knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) and SQL statement performance tuning
• A minimum of 6 years hands-on experience in PostgreSql database operations
• Sound knowledge of best practices in database administration and modeling and data security
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills
