Senior Cloud Engineer

• Understand a customer’s core problem, identify tradeoffs and propose solutions
• Communicate complex technical issues to audiences of various technical knowledge
• Troubleshoot complicated systems with little-to-no context
• Debug code, read source-code, google how to fix issues off the cuff
• Teach the team advanced principles, new technologies, techniques etc.
• Be a key point of escalation for others on technical issues
• Create repeatable patterns using configuration management and documentation
• Maintain a strong desire to be actively involved with the rest of the team and ensure the success of multiple projects

Who you are:

• You can work comfortably in a variety of operating systems
• Time management and context switching skills
• Ability and desire to learn on-the-fly and teach people at the same time
• Experience in cloud platforms with a deep knowledge of at least one
• Variety of programming experience with deep knowledge in at least one language
• Understanding of modern technologies like Kubernetes, services meshes, cloud networking and serverless/PaaS/SaaS technologies
• Previous consulting or mentoring/leadership experience
• Broad experience in monitoring tools
• Understand how to manage infrastructure and configuration in a coded steady state (IAC)

It's also going to help if you have:

• Datadog experience
• Kubernetes experience
• API design
• Public speaking skills and confidence, ability to identify new opportunities, persuade and steer customers to follow best practices
• Experience with auxiliary technologies such as IP address management and inventory
• Expertise in a specific area, like relational or non-relational databases, caching, distributed data systems, etc. Something you could talk to or teach in-depth
• Experience using common infrastructure configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, SSM, etc)
