Position Summary

Design, deploy, and support cost-efficient AWS solutions. Research cloud cost abnormalities and provide insights into its financial impact and solutions for supporting needed changes for correction. Identify areas of high influence that can be implemented centrally to increase the overall efficiency of our AWS spend. Work with lines of businesses to implement savings opportunities within their cloud footprints and applications. Create and implement actionable plans for the highest cost applications at SGI, working with application and division leads to drive savings. Provide technical leadership and guidance around architectural best practices that help elevate Cost Optimization as a pillar of the Well-Architected Framework. Influence and help achieve our enterprise cost efficiency strategy.

Qualifications

• Monitor, analyze, and optimize AWS usage to ensure cost-efficient resource allocation.
• Identify cost optimization opportunities by analyzing AWS cost and usage reports and make recommendations to reduce operation costs while maintaining performance and reliability.
• Optimize AWS costs by analyzing usage patterns and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Generate financial reports and collaborate with finance teams for budget planning and tracking.
• Implement cost allocation mechanisms and ensure accurate attribution of AWS costs.
• Enforce AWS usage policies to optimize resource utilization and prevent overspending.
• Analyse data to provide actionable insights for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and AWS account managers to align spending with business objectives.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge

• 4 to 5 years of strong experience managing AWS costs and optimizing cloud expenditures.
• Proficiency in AWS services, architecture, and cloud cost components.
• Strong analytical skills and familiarity with financial data analysis and reporting.
• Knowledge of AWS cost management tools and cloud cost optimization solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for effective teamwork.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accurate financial calculations and reporting.
• AWS certification in Cost Management, such as AWS Certified Cost Explorer or AWS Certified Cloud Financial Management.

• Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash) for data manipulation and automation.
• Knowledge of financial frameworks and concepts related to cloud cost management.
• Previous experience in FinOps or similar roles focused on cloud financial operations.
