Senior AWS Network Engineer

The Mimecast Cloud Networking team delivers a reliable and performant network built on top of a hybrid-cloud technology stack to ensure Mimecast's services remain available and able to serve Mimecast customers at scale.

We Are Looking For

We're looking for a talented Senior AWS Network Engineer to join our Cloud Networking team. As a Senior Engineer, you would be responsible for helping plan and deliver complex projects with predictability. The ideal candidate is experienced working in a large-scale enterprise network or global cloud service provider network, with an expert-level understanding of networking principals, and an advanced knowledge of networking in AWS. They should also be comfortable working in a Linux environment, and ideally proficient at scripting and in the use of configuration management and automation tools such as Git, and Ansible. As someone who lives and breathes networking, they will possess a good awareness of the network and communications ecosystem and of emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Be a technical subject matter expert and point of escalation within the Cloud Networking team.
• Contribute to network architecture, design, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
• Collaborate with Architecture, Security and Engineering teams to define Network requirements in order achieve organizational objectives.
• Design and build a secure cloud networking architecture.
• Collaborate with external vendors and partners to maintain and continue to improve the network.
• Create efficiencies through the implementation of scalable and intelligent network automation solutions.

Skills & Attributes

• At least 5 years experience working with large-scale enterprise AWS network environments
• Experience architecting and operating complex AWS cloud (Direct connect, transit gateway, VPCs, gateway load balancers, application LB, auto-scale groups, security groups, IAM, etc.) and in a large-scale Managed Service Provider, Enterprise, or Hyperscaler environments.
• In-depth understanding of writing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), using tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, and Puppet
• In-depth understanding of advanced networking principals and concepts, including in-depth knowledge of common protocols such as Ethernet, IP (v4 and v6), TCP, UDP, DNS, SMTP, IPsec, HTTPS, and BGP as well as with VPN technologies.
• Strong knowledge of and working experience with network routing, switching and firewalling.
• Good conceptual understanding of cloud network security, and experience working with datacenter firewalls.
• Ability to perform in-depth analysis of network performance and application issues using standard diagnostics tools.
• Hands on experience with network monitoring tools such as Nagios, Grafana, RANCID, Nautobot, CloudWatch, etc.
• Proficient working with Linux, preferably with CentOS/RHEL-based distributions like Rocky8
• Good working knowledge of Python and Bash scripting
• Knowledge of concepts and production experience with load balancers.
• Experience using configuration managements tools such as Git
• Ability to contribute as an individual contributor, team player, and on cross-functional squads
• AWS Certification
