Senior Cloud Network Engineer (Remote Eligible)

This position is a remote eligible position. You can choose to work at a remote location or at one of Redfin's headquarter locations (Seattle, San Francisco, or Dallas).

Who We Are:
The CORE team is responsible for all the infrastructure's foundation (network, storage, database, compute) that empowers Redfin. Throw in networking, caching, and database performance tuning & capacity scaling and you'll have a small glimpse into the breadth of technologies we work on.

As an individual contributor Senior Cloud Network Engineer you'll be reporting to the CORE Engineering Manager and using your systems knowledge to increase scaling and performance for every service at Redfin. We are currently re-architecting most of our existing infrastructure and we want you to help lead the way!

This role does require the ability to participate in periodic on-call rotation.

The Role:

• You will help lead the migration from an on-premises datacenter into AWS with a focus on evolving our current networking infrastructure. This includes designing, building and operating network architecture (in the cloud) with a focus on reliability, throughput, scalability, and security which will help us scale with the needs of the business.
• You will write software automation and tooling for network and cloud infrastructure. To help define our current and future state you will also be writing infrastructure as code.
• You will own traffic management: network routing & load balancers.
• You will work with customers, stakeholders, analysts, architects, and other engineers to troubleshoot to find the root cause of technology and security defects.
• You will leverage your general Linux system administration: configuration, installs, monitoring, and build observability to proactively detect and prevent performance/security issues.

About You:

• You have 5+ years of networking design and implementation experience with a focus on Data Center and AWS.
• You have 3+ years' experience with Linux administration and Linux scripting.
• You have expertise in the following: IP Routing, TCP/IP, BGP, eBGP, DNS, Multicast, AWS VPC, Shell scripting and Python/Ruby script development, Puppet, Chef, and Terraform.
• You provide feedback to Product Management and Engineering and have partnered with the business & application teams to guide them on their cloud journeys.
• You have a deep understanding of roles, responsibilities, and technologies used during migration of an on-premises datacenter to AWS. This includes understanding of operating systems, storage, networking, continuous delivery and deployment.

Nice To Have:

• Certified in AWS.
• Network Industry Certification.
• Experience in Software or Systems Development.
• Previous experience in an Agile environment and production infrastructure on call.

Starting Base Salary: $134,100.00 - 148,200.00. Actual starting base salary will depend on varying circumstances, including individual qualifications, market finances, and other operational business needs.
