Senior CNC Programmer

Summary:

• Prepares computer-assist programs for CNC machine centers.
• Selects the chucking device, cutting tools, tool arrangement, cutting speeds, and feeds for parts applicable to CNC machining.
• Inspects the initial NM of newly developed CNC programs and debugs as necessary.
• Provides the operator with set-up information adequate for producing the part.
• Communicates with Core/Focus personnel, plant personnel, and individuals outside the company. Identifies and reports any cost improvements. Assists engineers with special projects as assigned.
• Assists Manufacturing in the training of operators on new CNC equipment.
• Assists in the design of jigs, tools, fixtures, and special equipment for CNC applications.
• Maintains cutting tooling books and set-up sheets for CNC equipment.
• Support Machining Daily production
• Develop and update Work Instructions and Job aids for the machining area

Other job functions:

• Conduct optimization tests on new and existing tool applications.
• Assist in training of Service Programmers.
• Continue to upgrade programming skills by attending CAD/CAM classes

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree or minimum four years of CNC programming experience to include Uni graphics CAD/CAM experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• PowerMill and Power-Shape experience is a plus
• Must be able to react to normal machine scheduling and emergency requirements to maintain a steady flow of parts through CNC equipment.
• Experience in programming CNC lathes is a plus.
