What We Do
Collateral Operations Group Overview and Team Functions
The Collateral Operations group is a global team within the Global Operations & Technology division of BNY Mellon responsible for supporting our clients' collateral and portfolio reconciliations processes. Our clients include pension funds, endowments, mutual funds, hedge funds and other financial institutions using derivatives to manage their financial risks. We provide processing, inquiry and general support for our clients while working to improve and automate transaction processing systems. We are a center of excellence maximizing specific knowledge around the collateralization of complex derivative products, including swaps, options, forwards, and futures.
Senior Collateral Specialist Role Overview
Provides critical daily support of collateral management functions, interacting with clients and internal groups to ensure margin processing is completed by required deadlines. Additionally, perform key investigation, reconciliation, and settlement functions for the Principal Collateral business.
Role-Specific Responsibilities
As a Senior Collateral Specialist, your responsibilities will include:
- Support daily collateral management functions for the Bank's derivatives portfolio, interacting with clients to manage exposure and address client needs.
- Managing collateral deliveries and receipts, ensuring movements are properly settled.
- Interacting with various internal teams to investigate issues for reporting and escalation purposes.
- Interacting with internal and external auditors.
- Multitasking and prioritizing daily tasks and deliverables
- Partnering with senior colleagues to identify, develop and implement process changes
- Contributing to team objectives
- Escalating issues timely and effectively
Standard Job Responsibilities
- Provides complex analytics and reporting services, working to improve and automate Client Processing systems.
- Deals with complex external client issues (on-going client servicing for various programs, post sales support, resolving operational issues, and product implementations).
- May allocate/coordinate work within a team/project.
- Assists in communicating needs and issues with internal and external clients.
- Participates in innovative product development, product enhancement, and system testing to ensure that products continue to accurately and efficiently process high value transactions.
- Solves complex problems based on an understanding and knowledge of the intricacies of the system.
- Uses in-depth area knowledge to apply ingenuity and creativity to common repeat problems and determines more permanent resolutions.
- Provides technical assistance and support to lower-level client processing roles.
- Contributes to the achievement of team objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Five to seven (5-7) years of total work experience is preferred.
- Experience in derivatives processing is preferred.
- Experience in margin processing, settlements and cash processing as well as position reconciliations are all skills transferrable to this role is preferred.
- Experience with Derivative Collateral Management is preferred.
