Your Impact:

House Beautiful is looking for a passionate, data-savvy senior commerce editor to lead a strategic expansion in commerce for the brand. The candidate should have a strong background in commerce and deep understanding of best practices and talent for spotting emerging revenue opportunities. The senior commerce editor will be instrumental in guiding the brand-and a shopping team-to prioritize commerce opportunities site-wide (as well as through video and social media). Candidates should be well-versed in home design and the interiors industry.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to HB's deputy digital editor and working closely with the Hearst SEO and central commerce teams as well as House Beautiful's style, video, and social teams, the senior commerce editor will be overseeing, producing, and top editing commerce content on-site. They will also be responsible for regular reporting on commerce goals and getting all of team HB excited about revenue wins and opportunities! What you'll do:

  • Oversee monthly commerce coverage, planning, assigning, and editing gift guides, shopping news, sales roundups, product roundups, brand spotlights, shopping guides, awards franchises, and more
  • Pitch, research, write, and edit House Beautiful commerce stories
  • Lead the shopping team output and take responsibility for meeting commerce content quotas
  • Stay up to date on the latest product releases and news via PR relationships, press previews, media events, and more
  • Oversee coverage around major shopping holidays (Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Prime Day, holiday weekend sales, etc.)
  • Track performance of content and data trends to continually optimize output and report findings to team regularly
  • Manage shopping team
  • Work with fellow editors to optimize shopping content and shoppable moments across the site
  • Oversee regular, strategic content updates
  • Contribute to print stories as needed

Qualifications:

  • A self-starter with 5 years of post-grad experience creating commerce content at a digital-first outlet
  • An experienced manager and team player
  • A sharp writer and strong editor
  • Passionate about home decor and design shopping and obsessive about finding a great deal
  • Able to work quickly and pivot nimbly
  • Deep into analytics and able to translate data into strategy and communicate it clearly to a team
  • Familiar with Google Analytics, Parsely, Looker, Skimlinks
  • Capable of juggling multiple long-term and short-term projects simultaneously
  • Well-versed in building strong relationships and staying on top of industry happenings
  • Comfortable partnering with Hearst's central strategy teams (SEO, commerce, digital design) to push House Beautiful's goals forward

The base salary for this role is between $74,000-$89,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
