Job Description

As our Senior Communications Manager, you will help commercialize Boston Dynamics' leading edge technology, positioning the company for success in our target verticals. You will own the communications strategy, building brand awareness and relevance through earned media, executive speaking engagements, and thought leadership initiatives and appearances. You will shape the Boston Dynamics brand narrative and voice among target audiences, including customers, partners, and fans, with compelling storytelling around the amazing ways our technology is delivering value.

Day to day activities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy to elevate the commercial Boston Dynamics brand and advance our world leadership in robotics.
  • Build and execute media campaigns to support product launches, brand partnerships, and customer storytelling.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with analysts, journalists, and influencers, including technology, business, trades, and consumer press.
  • Manage PR and brand collaboration agencies, extending the reach of our campaigns to deliver desired results.
  • Create internal and external communications with brand messaging that reinforces the customer value of our world-leading mobile industrial robots.
  • Measure and report on the impact of communications and campaigns through earned, owned, and social media channels.
  • Identify strategic events for executive appearances, and support with thought leadership narratives, content creation, and live robot demonstrations.
  • Develop and train new spokespeople as needed.
  • Write or edit news releases, public statements, and social media posts while maintaining high editorial standards.
  • Work collaboratively with product and demand generation marketers to develop and execute our owned content editorial calendar and distribution plans.
  • Partner with People Operations and Executive Leadership to build and execute an effective internal communications program and ensure alignment for our key strategic initiatives and priorities.

Desired skills:

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in corporate communications or public relations.
  • Strategic thinker that is able to translate broad vision into actionable execution. Motivated by the opportunity to both lead and execute plans.
  • Ability to interface professionally with senior level executives and provide clear, persuasive recommendations.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to translate technical details into approachable messaging that can be widely understood by various audiences.
  • Experience building and executing crisis communications plans and issues management strategies.
  • Knowledge of brand marketing principles, strategy, and techniques.
  • Creative, cultural curiosity with willingness to experiment, test and learn on new media channels.
  • Expertise in social media platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram & TikTok.
  • Willing to travel up to 20% of time. Comfortable managing a small team.
