Senior Communications Manager

Our Global Communications Team seeks an experienced Senior Communications Manager experienced in partnering across functions to develop product and R&D pipeline communications and PR/media programs that engage target audiences in Ascendis, our innovative TransCon technology, and the exciting work we are doing to benefit patients.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Communications Manager will be based in Palo Alto, California and will collaborate across global functions to identify communications needs, develop effective communications strategies and plans, and report on results. This role will serve as an essential partner in developing compelling messaging, stories, and content for assigned areas, and will manage associated project timelines, budgets, agency relationships, compliance reviews, and media monitoring.

• Work with cross-functional stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand business and program objectives, using that knowledge to develop supporting strategic integrated communications plans and content.
• Understand Ascendis and assigned program areas, then use that knowledge to write and direct creation of messaging, press releases, materials, and digital content.
• Serve as the go-to resource for consistent, up-to-date messaging in those areas.
• Manage country or global compliance reviews that may be required, proactively working with reviewers to resolve comments.
• Analyze and report on program outcomes, providing insights and highlighting successes while also identifying gaps or areas where adjustments may be needed.
• Manage associated budgets, agency/consultant relationships, and status reporting.

• Participate as needed in special communications projects or issues that may arise.
• Maintain records and source files for your areas, and work with the broader teams to periodically assess and update work processes to optimize compliance and efficiency.

Requirements

• 5-10 years of experience in pharmaceutical PR/media, corporate communications and/or product/pipeline communications, with both U.S. and European experience a plus
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Communications-or a related field
• Outstanding listening and partnering skills, coupled with the ability to extract and quickly process key information, summarize needs and objectives of internal customers, and provide targeted insights and recommendations.
• Excellent writing and verbal skills, with ability to develop accurate, compelling messages, and content tailored to the target audience(s) and channel (PR, media, web, video, and social media).
• Ability to prioritize communications activities for maxim impact.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, relationships, and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Experience using Veeva or related compliance system a plus.
