This position is expected to last approximately 6 months.

In this role, you will work in a high-profile agency in the Executive Branch, at the very center of government policy development and management. As such you must have superior written and oral communication skills, the ability to qualitatively analyze complex federal programs and objectives, great attention to detail, the ability to comprehend unfamiliar subject matter within aggressive deadlines, and an interest in working collaboratively in teams. We are seeking a communications professional who is flexible, eager, enthusiastic, a self-starter, possesses a very strong work ethic, and has an entrepreneurial mindset. US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a federal government EOP clearance are required for this position. This hybrid position is 2 days per week in Washington, DC.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develops and implements communication tactics, strategies, and goals to effectively communicate government policies to internal and external stakeholders.
• Develops and executes the public rollout strategy for federal government policies.
• Creates communications content for federal government customers to include press releases, event planning, one-pagers, Q&A, talking points, blog posts, and social media updates.
• Conducts in-depth discovery research to determine and suggest key engagements and events for Sr. government stakeholder participation and develop key messages and themes for selected events.
• Provides communications assistance to support branding and event management.
• Supports social media communications and messaging across various platforms.
• Plans, organizes, and executes the day-to-day communications-related activities for the organization.
• Tracks manages, monitors, and updates the strategic engagement events calendar.
• Facilitates communications team status meetings.
• Supports internal communications needs, such as developing SOPs, meeting agendas, and updating internal tools for the team.
• Works under the broad guidance of the Government Communications team to create final work products.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• At least 10 years of professional work experience as a Communications Specialist in a federal government environment.
• Ability to partner and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Experience supporting communications efforts in technology and policy environments.
• Experience tracking and running speaking engagements for clients.
• Strong presentation skills, problem-solving skills, and research skills.
• Ability to work in a complex IT Governance environment supporting day-to-day activities with little guidance.
• Ability to work with limited direction to lead, define, develop, and distribute high-quality communications work products in a timely fashion.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• Experience supporting internal and external communications in a federal government environment.

EDUCATION:

• A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required
• A Master's degree in a related field is preferred
