Opportunity Overview
As Enterprise Communications integrates external and internal communications into one seamless capability, the Sr. Communications Strategist plays a critical role in developing comprehensive, multi-stakeholder communications strategies , executing with and across matrixed teams, for top firm initiatives (e.g. Knowledge-Powered, Edward Jones Ventures, government relations/policy, etc.). Having a centralized lead over these complex, cross-functional communications needs creates much-needed efficiency/speed to execution and ensures the needs of all stakeholders are considered in the process. Effective oversight of these important areas also enables the acceleration of the impact the External Affairs function has for the firm, Managing Partner and our stakeholders.
The Sr. Communication Strategist leads end-to-end communication strategies for the firm's largest, most complex strategic efforts and ensuring alignment to firm internal brand and voice, systems for efficiency, consistency, and alignment with other capabilities. This role may have matrix leadership responsibilities
What you'll do
- Leverage strategic consultation skills to anticipate and respond to shifts in strategy as warranted, leveraging data and stakeholder input to coach/advise and influence strategic decisions of senior business leaders to adjust the communication plan when necessary to drive measurable action from the target audience.
- Leverage communication metrics to drive strategic delivery across multiple projects.
- May informally lead multiple strategists, consultants and/or specialists, as well as matrixed leadership of resources from enabling functions that support the complex communication execution efforts.
- Take a leadership role in identifying and aligning to other capabilities if there are change interdependencies, risks, issues, and or other opportunities ; partner with matrix teams to integrate and align efforts through a multi-stakeholder lens.
- Partner with across Enterprise Communications and other capabilities and functions to deliver a seamless, value-driven experience for our stakeholders
- Drive and recommend improvements in communications content and channel delivery to reflect industry "best-in-class" practices.

Position Requirements
What you'll need
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- Preferred degree in Journalism, Communication, English or related degree/equivalent work experience preferred
Candidates that live within in a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week, with preference for Tuesday through Thursday.
