What you’ll do:
We aim to hire smart people so they can tell us what best to do. Your job within the Compliance Department at Optiver Europe is what you will make of it, but your tasks and responsibilities will at least include:
- Review and follow up on market abuse trade surveillance alerts;
- Review and follow up on electronic communication surveillance alerts;
- Continuously contribute to the execution and improvement of the Compliance monitoring and surveillance framework;
- Analysing large sets of market and trade data to detect and evaluate unwanted trading patterns, and assess potential risks;
- Combining technology with a good understanding of the regulatory framework to ensure our control framework is up to standard and can continuously improve;
- Designing and building controls to prevent and detect unwanted behaviour;
- Test and review existing tools, systems and controls;
- Advising on and Supporting the implementation process of compliance requirements;
- Propose and implement ways to improve compliance processes;
- Identify strategic deficiencies as well as major improvements on quality and effectiveness of our overall surveillance framework and push these to be closed respectively implemented to mitigate the firm’s biggest risks and enabling growth;
- Assessing the business risks for our trading operations in a thorough, sensible and compliant manner with integrity;
- Analysing and assessing the strategic risks and opportunities arising from the relevant developments in the market as well as regulatory framework in an accurate but pragmatic manner to enable business to grow in a controlled environment;
- Build bridges with other functions for solid communication lines to improve collaboration and bring Optiver to the next level;

Who you are:
- Academic degree;
- 3+ years of relevant working experience, including market abuse trade surveillance;
- A keen interest in financial markets, trading and technology;
- Strong sense of integrity and the ability to balance business interests with the need to exercise independent judgment
- A strong affinity for technology and data handling;
- Experience with Query Languages (SQL, Python) recommended;
- An analytical and investigative mind with a good eye for detail;
- A pro-active, assertive and results-driven personality;
- A strong focus, especially when dealing with reoccurring tasks;
- Experience working at or with exchanges and regulators would be a big plus;
