Senior Consultant - Data Protection

We are looking for a Senior Data Protection Engineer with a solid experience in design and implementation of Enterprise and midrange Data Protection products, including Commvault, EMC Avamar, EMC Data Domain, Veritas, and VEEAM. The Ahead Consulting team is driven by industry-leading experts who have developed a consultative framework unique to Ahead. We provide a vendor-neutral consultative view to clients looking to transform their IT environments using next-generation technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Develops a detail design on Commvault, Veritas and EMC Avamar/Data Domain Data Protection/Backup solution.
• Performs implementation of data protection solutions,
• Installs and configures Commvault Commserve server and Media servers.
• Configures Commvault IntelliSnap.
• Installs and configures Veritas NetBackup and Backup Exec servers.
• Installs and configures EMC Avamar and Data Domain.
• Installs and configures backup agents on Linux Unix, VMWARE, Windows hosts.
• Installs and configures backup agents for Microsoft SQL and Exchange.
• Installs and configures DD Boost on various clients.
• Configures VMWARE proxy servers for Virtual machine backups.
• Configures replication solution between two sites.
• Conducts an operational overview of the implemented solution for Ahead clients.
• Performs software upgrade for Data Protection products from Commvault, EMC, Veritas, Rubrik, and VEEAM.
• Occasionally performs client workshops on Data Protection solutions.
• Troubleshoots problems arose during the implementation and drive it to resolution with vendor support which may require 24 hr/day and/or 7-day/week coverage.
• Performs an analysis of clients Data Protection/Backup environment and recommends a solution.
• Delegate small projects tasks to associate engineers.
• Develop and Maintain appropriate controls and documentation

Skills Required

• 8+ years of experience with Design and implementation of Data Protection solution from Commvault and other vendors.
• Experience with enterprise and midrange Data Protection solutions.
• 8+ years, minimum, CommVault Design and implementation experience..
• 5+ years, minimum, CommVault consulting experience.
• 5+ years, minimum, CommVault Simpana experience.
• 5+ years, minimum, consulting experience.
• 3+ years, minimum, project delivery management.
• In-depth understanding of Commvault Backup and recovery architecture.
• Hands-on experience with installation and configuration Commvault Commserve and media server for structured and unstructured data.
• Hands-on experience with configuring CommVault 1-touch recovery with Intellisnap.
• Hands-on experience with implementation of High availability backup and recovery solution for Commvault.
• Hands-on experience with data management and archive.
• Hands-on experience with server clustering technology (Microsoft Cluster Server, Veritas Cluster Server.) / Virtual Machines (VMWare, Hyper-V, AWS, Azure Virtual Server).
• Hands-on experience with the implementation of advanced backup and recovery solution for Microsoft Exchange, Sharepoint and SQL.
• Hands-on experience with the implementation of advanced backup and recovery solution for Oracle, SAP, SAP HANA and DB2.
• Hands-on experience designing complex solutions to meet business requirements.
• Hands-on experience in performing a software upgrade for Commvault Simpana v9,v10,v11
• Hands-on experience with the implementation of advanced backup solution for SQL, Exchange, and Oracle application.
• Hands-on experience with implementation of replication of backup data to a remote site.
• Hands-on experience in troubleshooting problems during the implementation and drive it to resolution with vendor support.
• Prefer to have experience in PERL, KSH, VBasic scripting.
• Good understand on TCP/IP networking.
• Intermediate experience in the design and implementation of Backup, recover data from on-premise to cloud in AWS, Azure or Google and back.
