CONTENT DESIGN LEAD, CORE XD

LG, LA or remote

Netflix is building the world’s leading entertainment service, offering great shows, movies and games that push the boundaries of storytelling and delight members around the world. We’re seeking an experienced Content Designer to partner with the Core XD team on the systems, patterns and standards that help us build best-in-class products consistently and efficiently.

About The Role

The successful candidate will use systems thinking and design best practices to collaborate with two primary teams:

- Design Systems. Our internal Hawkins Design System is a source of truth for Designers and Engineers working across our consumer and enterprise products.

- Content Design. As a member of the Content Design team, you’ll drive our internal style guide, glossary and team hub, and make sure our writing resources are appropriately embedded in Hawkins.

What You’ll Do

  • Build a naming taxonomy (for system infrastructure, tokens, iconography, components, etc.) that serves both Designers and Engineers.
  • Collaborate on the information architecture of our documentation platform.
  • Write, edit or outsource documentation for design components; communicate releases to extended stakeholders.
  • Define Hawkins writing templates and create a style guide and workflow for future contributions.
  • Manage Content Design glossary and style guide additions and alignment.
  • Evolve and improve Content Design–specific resources, including our accessibility best practices and guidelines.
  • Establish patterns around microcopy for shared components, and partner with other Content Designers to customize solutions based on specific product requirements.
  • Collaborate on tooling solutions that will help Designers and Engineers deliver their best work.

About You

  • You have demonstrated experience as a Content Designer, with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment.
  • You’re a systems thinker who’s familiar with the development of IA, design systems and language frameworks that scale.
  • You’re self-motivated, proactive and highly organized, with a steadfast attention to detail.
  • You work collaboratively to drive alignment and prioritization, while partnering with cross-functional peers across Design, Engineering and Product to define a strong user experience.
  • You thrive in ambiguity, and are comfortable distilling complex business and user needs into actionable strategies and outcomes.
  • You communicate productively with visual thinkers and are comfortable advocating for your point of view in our candid, feedback-driven culture.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant experience: Content Design, Design Systems, Technical Writing/Documentation, Taxonomy, IA.
  • Extensive experience developing style guides and standards.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and traverse altitudes from strategic visioning to tactical execution.
  • Mastery of AP style, and the confidence to know when to break the rules.
  • Highly collaborative, organized and self-directed; able to effectively prioritize and respond accordingly to the shifting needs of the team.
  • Experience with accessibility preferred.
