ABOUT THE ROLE

You will be a member of our multi-disciplinary team and will work under the direction of a licensed engineer. Projects may include new construction and renovation in educational, healthcare, corporate commercial and science and technology. 

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Perform and direct complex design of building automation and other digital controls systems for large scale size buildings. Able to work on building automation and other digital controls systems independently with no oversight or guidance.
  • Oversee, guide, mentor and provide technical leadership to designers and engineering team.
  • Direct the work of less experienced staff including the development and presentation of annual performance reviews.
  • You will serve in the QAQC process and be an independent reviewer.
  • Interface effectively with clients and members of the design team.
  • Direct staff and participate in the preparation of Revit/BIM modeling of construction drawings of controls systems from schematic design to construction administration phases including layout, sketches and detail drawings as required.
  • Specify controls equipment and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with a team to formulate Division 25 specifications and establish criteria for Smart Building design and development.
  • Review and accept selective shop drawings for compliance of specifications and contract documents.
  • Participate or lead value engineering sessions with Architectural/Engineering team.
  • Recommend improvements to and develop reference standards and processes related to controls systems design for building automation and other digital controls systems to improve quality, coordination, and to streamline production efforts.
  • Conduct staff development activities to educate our staff on controls system design.
  • Respond to RFI’s and review of change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
  • Represents company in project activities. May serve on internal and/or professional committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

ABOUT YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Bachelor of Architectural Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical Systems focus) from an ABET accredited program.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Building Codes
  • Current PE in the United States preferred.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to effectively handle multiple projects.
  • Must have the ability to engage effectively with clients.
  • Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs (i.e. Revit, Excel, others) as required.

The salary range for this position to be filled in the San Diego, CA office is $93,400 to $116,800 annually. This salary range is the range we believe is the anticipated range of possible base compensation at the timing of the posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the anticipated salary range for the position. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
