This person will lead and participate in copy editing for a variety of marketing deliverables, including emails, display ads and direct mail. In particular, RAPP develops a large volume of marketing email campaigns.
The Senior Copy Editor works closely with other copy editors as well as the Quality Assurance and Creative teams to bring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with brand and regulatory requirements.
This person produces great work in a fast-paced environment, often with short turnaround times — and helps other copy editors do the same. Thrives within a collaborative team and is also able to handle tasks on their own. Clear and thorough written and verbal communication is paramount.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as lead editor for a major financial services brand, performing all levels of editing, including proofreading, copy editing, fact-checking and brand style compliance.

- Ensure accuracy and completeness of terminology, trademarks and detailed legal disclaimers for multiple lines of business.
- Ensure clarity, concision and inclusivity of marketing language to deliver high-impact messages that are free of bias. Verify appropriateness of visuals/artwork within the context of communications.
- Oversee the copy-editing workload, ensuring thorough reviews, timely turnarounds and equitable distribution of assignments while minimizing bottlenecks. Prioritize urgent work, and escalate and help address bandwidth/timing challenges with cross-discipline collaborators.
- Monitor, audit and optimize copy-editing process and adjacent processes to ensure requirements are always being met with maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
- Review error reports and conduct root cause analyses to prevent recurrence.
- Exercise tact, diplomacy and protection of confidential information.
- Execute all aspects of administrative responsibilities (e.g., timesheets, time-off requests) in an appropriately detailed and timely manner.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism or associated field is preferred.
- At least 4 years’ experience as a full-time copy editor reviewing both digital and print work.
- At least 2 years' experience copy editing materials for the financial services industry and/or another highly regulated industry (healthcare, pharma, etc.).
- At least 2 years in a senior and/or supervisory position.
- Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new software quickly. Comfort with both Windows and Mac operating systems. Experience with Workfront and/or Proof HQ a plus.
- Expert skills with Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word and Outlook, and at least intermediate skills with Excel, plus the ability to learn other content management systems. Experience with SharePoint/OneDrive a plus.
- Excellent command of the English language with respect to grammar, punctuation and vocabulary; proficiency with AP and/or Chicago style guidelines.
- Analytical mindset, time-management and problem-solving skills, and the ability to see both the big picture and details of a project.
- Effective communication/interpersonal skills to work across teams and disciplines.
