Our Senior Copywriter will be an integral part of our team at WillowTree. To help retain our deep culture of collaboration both among ourselves and our clients, this role will maintain an in-office presence in a hybrid (Work From Near) capacity from our Charlottesville office.

The OpportunityAs our Senior Copywriter you will be responsible for writing compelling pieces across a variety of formats and media. You’ll bring a strong narrative voice, passion for storytelling, and experience writing and editing long- and short-form content. In addition to writing original work, you’ll be reviewing, editing, and proofreading copy from a limited pool of other WillowTree writers. You’ll play a key role in establishing the WillowTree voice while working with a growing team of cross-functional content professionals including writers, filmmakers, and designers.

Responsibilities- Perform foundational research and schedule/facilitate interviews with internal subject matter experts (SMEs) and external stakeholders (clients, etc.) to be appropriately informed on subject matter
- Craft long- and short-form pieces of content including but not limited to: ebooks, white papers, articles, case studies, social media, blog posts, press releases, and awards submissions
- Develop written content including scripts, outlines, show notes and episode descriptions for WillowTree’s podcasts and video series
- Edit/proofread work from other WillowTree copywriters to ensure it conforms to WillowTree’s editorial style guidelines and high standards for quality storytelling
- Help establish the WillowTree editorial voice, tone, and style
- Build connections across the organization to identify and engage with subject matter experts in order to deliver best-in-class quality on projects
- Become a trusted resource for the organization in terms of copyediting, proofreading and publishing content
- Partner with the Director of Brand and Content Strategy to strategize on future growth of the team, including fulltime and freelance resources
- 5-7 years of copywriting experience
- Experience writing long and short form across various formats and media
- Ability to work quickly and produce quality content in a high volume environmentÂ
- Strong narrative voice with the ability to bring distinct personality and style to written content
- High level of accountability and comfort working autonomously to own projects from inception to completion
- Deep sense of empathy, with the ability to ask thoughtful questions and write in different voices and styles
- Intellectually and culturally curious
- Master’s Degree in Fine Arts (MFA) in creative fiction/nonfiction writing
- Experience in the technology industry, especially mobile apps and software
- You’re a published fiction or creative nonfiction writer
- You have experience with interviewing and capturing oral histories
- Knowledge and expertise in story structure (i.e., screenplay structure, Hero's Journey)
