Senior Corporate Counsel

Instabase; an industry leader in artificial intelligence and machine learning, is looking for a Senior Corporate Counsel with deep expertise in commercial transactions to help drive our continued growth. Instabase is backed by leading VC’s, including Andreessen Horowitz, Greylock, NEA, Index Ventures, and Tribe Capital, and we sell software and SaaS to the world’s largest enterprise customers. We are adding to our small-but-mighty legal team as the company continues to expand in the US and internationally.

We serve as trusted advisors to the business – quickly solving problems, navigating complexities, and enabling our growth into new markets and verticals.

What you’ll do: 

• Draft and negotiate contracts with some of our largest and most strategic customers, supporting the sale of customer hosted and SaaS software and associated technical services.
• Provide advice to senior sales management and other supporting functions, analyzing legal issues impacting the business.
• Participate on cross-functional teams passionate about continuous process improvement, simplification of our agreements, and new business/buying model development.
• Work to refine business policies and practices.

About you: 

• 5-10 years of experience working in one or more companies with a strong software and services pedigree; ideally with prior experience at a major law firm.
• You are comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic environment and demonstrate the ability to be flexible, successfully managing frequent changes in priorities, deadlines, and workload.
• You have detailed knowledge of commercial, contract and business law, and knowledge of intellectual property, and data protection law. You understand contracting principles and their impact on the business, finding creative solutions to issues.
• You have strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate expertly and concisely (in writing and verbally) complex legal and business issues with senior staff both inside and outside the company.
• You have a natural curiosity and hunger to learn and to apply that learning to specific tasks to improve your work and the work of others around you.
• You are a change agent who can clearly articulate these issues and their repercussions in a constructive manner and take full ownership of identifying and implementing better, more innovative ways of doing things.

For US-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $155,543 to $217,700 + bonus, equity, and US benefits. The actual pay may vary based on factors such as location, experience, and skills.
