Senior Cost Accountant

Summary

Under limited supervision, this role completes a variety of the most complex accounting functions with a focus on the Retail businesses within the Global Agriculture Division covering over 250 locations across the United States. This position has a hybrid work schedule and is open due to an internal promotion.

Key Responsibilities

• Analysis and monitoring of Retail cost and inventory financial accounts and transactions.
• Includes: cost of sales postings, inventory adjustments, price changes and review/ audit of vendor rebate accruals.
• Participate in and/ or manage inventory audits as well as provide recommendations for improvements to business operations.
• Prepare appropriate explanations relating to report items of particular interest or significance, uses some judgment in determining what would be of interest or importance.
• Support and assist junior members of the cost accounting staff in the development of their professional skills.
• Assist in aligning and directing cost and inventory accounting policies and practices.
• Work closely with business operations, FP&A, auditors, public accountants, and other financial professionals.
• Identify areas of accounting risk and modify or implement controls as necessary to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Interact and communicate with a variety of people on many different levels in person or remotely.

Typical Education

Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Accounting from 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience

5+ years of related experience and/or training

Experience with JDE, Agvance, Power BI, Axiom or SAP preferred

Other Information

Some travel required annually for location visits including the completion of inventory observations and counts.
