Senior Cost Accountant

Summary

Under minimal supervision, this role provides and presents operational and financial guidance, expertise and recommendations to the Plant Operations teams for operational decisions, forecasting, and strategic planning. Works directly with company management to ensure proper application and interpretation of operational and financial information and special analysis of critical issues. Provides plant operations with operational and financial management and analysis as well as forecasting and budgeting of Plant Operations expenses by working closely with various department heads including Plant Operations and Procurement.

Key Responsibilities

• Assure compliance with Food Group, Corporate and governmental accounting regulations and policies by assisting with and implementing programs and systems in accordance with company policies.
• Develops and maintains processes and procedures to ensure operational reports, financial reports and other analytical information and systems are accurate, timely and informative.
• Performs accounting for Plant Operations and price variances on a regular basis.
• Responsible for preparation and analysis of cost reports.
• Examines and reviews unusual cost records and ensures cost data is allocated correctly.
• Responsible for consolidated Plant Operations monthly journal entries.
• Responsible for consolidated Plant Payroll reconciliations
• Provides Utilities Price and Usage forecast and Budget Analysis
• Assists in review and tracking of Capital Expenditures.
• Creates and maintains - Business intelligence models and reports.

Typical Education

Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience

5+ years related experience and/or training

Other Information

CPA, CMA, MBA preferred. This is a senior-level position to the Cost Accounting job family requiring a comprehensive understanding of Accounting fundamentals and principles. Work is varied and complex. Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity.
