Senior Accountant

Job Description

You will serve as the front-line cost accounting support for one of the largest manufacturing facilities in Houston. You will actively work with various operations personnel and financial management and become an intricate component of our progressive team environment. You will be responsible for preparing, analyzing, and streamlining of how financial reports are compiled and executed. You will perform month-end accounting close.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Completion of monthly financial close activities.
  • Performing monthly balance sheet, income statement and changes in financial position/budget variance analyses.
  • Partner with operations personnel to provide advice and technical assistance with operational transactions or processes and correlate the correct financial accounting.
  • Preforming root cause analysis and implementing corrections where needed.
  • Preparation and presentation of monthly manufacturing performance results.
  • Perform and report on results of periodic audits of inventories (Work in Process, Finished Goods/Raw Materials).
  • Develop more efficient and accurate reporting.
  • Assist in special assignments as needed.
  • Assisting in the preparation of annual budgets for review by upper management.

Desired Skills & Experience

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with 1 to 4 years of accounting, auditing, or other relevant experience.

  • Strong communication, presentation, analytical, time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, as well as able to adapt to a changing environment.
  • Sound understanding of accounting principles.
  • Oracle, Hyperion, and Smart View experience a plus.
  • Experience with manufacturing standard cost environment.
  • High level of dedication to meeting customer requests and required time commitments.
  • Aptitude for relating manufacturing activities, system transactions, and processes to financial outcomes.
  • Proven track record of results and ability to partner with all levels within the organization.
