The Legal & Policy Team is Snap's dedicated in-house law firm, policy consultant, lobbyist, thought partner, and all-around advisor. This team helps Snap do the right thing the right way, make better decisions, understand and manage risks, and creatively navigate challenges, both external and internal. We partner with Snap team members on a wide array of matters, including privacy, product, IP, commercial transactions, corporate governance, employment, acquisitions, litigation, and policy, and social impact. We're looking for a Senior Counsel to join Snap's Employment Legal team!
What you'll do:
  • Provide strategic advice and legal counsel regarding employment law issues in the U.S. Working from one of our Snap offices, you will partner closely with other employment attorneys and cross-functional partners.
  • Provide employment law counseling, advice, and day-to-day support for the People Team across the U.S.
  • Guide and advise on the development and implementation of employment policies and practices (including hiring practices, performance management, employee relations, internal investigations, terminations, leaves of absence, work accommodations, payroll administration, fixed and variable compensation, OFCCP compliance, wage and hour compliance, and benefits) to ensure best practices and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including the People, Legal, and Executive teams, to provide strategic, business-oriented employment law guidance for successful execution of company initiatives
  • Collaborate with the People team to generate training on employment law topics to improve internal processes
  • Provide legal guidelines and support regarding the company's contingent workforce and agency workers
  • Handle and resolve escalated employment-related disputes and investigations
  • Manage the full range of employment litigation and regulatory matters, including the management of external counsel where appropriate
  • Support merger and acquisition transactions and related integration of employees
  • Draft and revise employment-related agreements (including offer letters, confidentiality and intellectual property agreements, and settlement agreements), and train the People team on usage of appropriate templates

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication and analytical skills with demonstrated strategic thinking and risk analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and business judgment with a dedication to teamwork, integrity, and collegiality
  • Experience working effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible and willing to approach legal challenges with an entrepreneurial mentality
  • Experience in creating and working within the basic functions of spreadsheets, word documents and slide show applications
  • Ability to multitask and pivot quickly to evolving priorities

Minimum Qualifications:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing in a U.S. jurisdiction
  • Minimum 8 years experience practicing employment law on management side, with at least 3 years at a law firm

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of In-house counsel experience at a multinational company
  • Familiarity with global employment laws
  • M&A experience
  • Legal expertise in diversity programs and related EEO laws
  • Compliance expertise in government contractor responsibilities, such as OFCCP
  • Legal expertise in contingent workforce issues
  • Legal expertise in background check requirements

Compensation
In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These pay zones may be modified in the future.
  • Zone A (CA, WA, NYC) : The base salary for this position is $230,000 - $335,000 USD Annually
  • Zone B : The base salary for this position is $219,000 - $318,000 USD Annually
  • Zone C : The base salary for this position is $196,000 - $285,000 USD Annually

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs
