What you'll get to do: 

  • Work on the underwriting process across all business segments to identify risk optimization opportunities and then leverage data science & analytical methodologies to design and build custom solutions to address those opportunities (15%).

  • Monitor the steps in loan origination for credit decision metrics, alert important partners on trends and come up recommendations on strategies to improve credit performance (10%).

  • Manage and develop Opportunity Financials’ credit underwriting strategy, policy and performance across all products (15%).

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide data driven insights and tools to optimize the Growth-Risk trade-offs and thereby help improving the KPIs in their scope of the business (10%).

  • Design & Drive multiple experiments and strategy changes that would improve default risk performance, coordinate with departments like Tech and Operation for desired implementation and evaluation of those changes (15%).

  • Mentor and manage a team of full-time analysts to drive continuous evaluation in consumer credit behavior trends, build credit risk analytics tools and guide them work in model design, development, and implementation (15%).

  • Build and maintain ties with external data vendors. Evaluate new data source for potential value addition to company's business. Perform external data quality validation, statistical tests, and feature engineering to discover new attributes that would increase the efficiency in calculating degree of risk involved in extending credit (5%).

  • Build and monitor automated reporting to track trends and behavior in Key Performance metrics around funnel conversion, credit performance and portfolio (5%). Maintain strategic relationship with key stake holders and deliver key insights and measurable results to Leadership (10%).

  • ***This position manages credit analysts and/or data scientists. ***The position allows remote work from anywhere in U.S.

What you'll bring to the team:

  • Masters’ degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Statistics, Finance, or a related field, or foreign equivalent and 3 years of relevant credit risk experience.
  • Position also requires: 3 years of experience in financial services or consulting experience
  • 1 year of experience with a project/product management, including managing credit policy changes; experience with credit underwriting processes, FCRA and other consumer federal, state lending regulations and credit bureau data; experience managing large-scale projects with various stakeholders; experience with any project management tool; experience with SQL, R/Python; and experience with credit model development process and methodologies.

Job Level: Senior Manager

The salary for this role is $149,635-152,000. The total compensation package includes eligibility for performance-based bonuses as well as a 1-time equity grant based on level.

The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be at the company’s sole discretion, and determined by a myriad of factors including, but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, and other relevant business considerations.
