Senior Crude Oil Analyst (WTI) - Houston
Job Description
Energy Aspects has an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Crude Oil Analyst to join our growing Houston team. This is a fantastic career opportunity for a seasoned Crude Oil Analyst, with a particular focus on Cushing and Gulf Coast Markets, to make an invaluable contribution to a well-respected, established but rapidly growing Energy Research Consultancy.
You will play a central role in our North American crude oil service and assist in our broader oil market analysis. Well-versed in North American and global crude oil markets, you will understand the interaction of physical and financial markets, as well as the behaviour of cracks, spreads, and other relative values. The role responsibilities will span the full cycle of our work, from building and maintaining data models and monitoring market developments, through to writing concise analysis and responding to client requests.
You will work closely with several analysts globally, and play a leading role in maintaining compelling and coherent views. Collaboratively engaging across your team, you will be able to address inconsistencies and ambiguities.
Our clients value our views and insights, so you will be helping to shape forward-looking views and not just historical analysis. Ideally, you will already have experience of building and maintaining balances for oil markets. You will closely track one or more geographic regions, so existing knowledge of regional markets will be an advantage.
This position will require flexibility and the drive to go beyond the core hours when needed, ensuring we all fulfil our goals. All team members are encouraged to build their professional reputation within the industry and are supported by some of the most well-regarded energy sector commentators. You must be able to work independently, as well as be capable of planning and prioritising to achieve success. In exchange, we offer excellent remuneration, a high-performance culture, with challenging and exciting work.
Duties
- Maintain supply and demand models for North American crude markets.
- Contributing to broader oil markets analysis for various EA reports (monthly email alerts and ad-hoc reports).
- Supporting our wider crude team in developing global market views.
- Establishing a comprehensive network of relevant industry contacts and experts.
- Dealing with client queries specifically, including participating in client presentations and workshops.
- Managing more junior members of the North America crude team.
Requirements
- Solid demonstrable senior analytical experience working with crude oil at a consultancy or a trading house.
- Fundamental modelling experience (work with statistical tools, regression modelling etc).
- An innate ability to identify key trends in large datasets.
- Successful track record in producing original market insights.
- Strong expertise with Excel.
