Senior Customs Compliance Specialist

The Customs Compliance team is focused on building compliant trade practices to support exciting growth plans while remaining one of the top compliance-focused customs brokers and freight forwarders in the industry.

We're looking for a Senior Customs Compliance Specialist to help provide subject matter expertise for import and export matters; ensuring compliance with all relevant customs regulations and trade laws including 19 CFR, 15 CFR, PGA and other regulatory agency requirements. Flexport’s Customs Compliance team ensures that Flexport is enabled to transact complete and accurate import and export declarations, as well as act as Trusted Advisors to our Clients.

• Enforce compliance through maintaining awareness of complex regulatory requirements in a fast-paced environment 
• Execute risk management through identifying potential risk and provide succinct, solution-based feedback to the organization
• Maintain industry knowledge and distribute that knowledge to stakeholders
• Support training development through researching and updating relevant training and knowledge resources for various audiences
• Execute compliance audits by managing a complex framework requiring collaboration with a matrix organization
• Perform trend analysis by reviewing large data sets, and interpret action-based results

• 5+ years of experience with a brokerage in a customs or compliance role
• Strong understanding and application of government agency regulations, tariff classification, and general import/export requirements
• A Customs Broker License or Certified Customs Specialist designation a plus
• Excellent individual problem-solving and analytical skills to review and advise on complex issues
• Experience working with a wide array of applications including but not limited to the Google Suite
• An appreciation of the legal, compliance, and financial context of our work and display appropriate sensitivity to the confidential nature of the work
• Strong professional communication skills (both written and verbal)
• An ability to plan and organize competing priorities to meet deadlines
