Description
This is a Hybrid position. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to their assigned innovation center in Warren, MI; Atlanta, GA; or Austin, TX three times a week at minimum.
The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cybersecurity Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in enhancing the security and performance of our digital products and services. You will be responsible for working closely with our Cyber Defense Detection, Response, & Insider Threat Teams in designing, developing, and implementing detection tools and solutions to identify and mitigate potential security threats to GM's cloud and on premise information assets.
What You'll Do

  • Develop data collection mechanisms, integrate data sources, and create pipelines to gather and consolidate security data from various sources such as network logs, application logs, endpoint logs, and third-party tools for analysis.
  • Develop and maintain machine learning models and algorithms to detect abnormal systems behavior, predict trends, and identify patterns that may indicate potential security risks or compromises.
  • Participate in design review meetings and provide cybersecurity guidance as necessary.
  • Design, test, and deploy new visibility and other cybersecurity products.
  • Work with the Cyber Defense Detection, Response, and Insider Threat Team's to create reports and dashboards to present findings and insights to various stakeholders, including management, security teams, and other relevant parties.
  • Work closely with Cyber Defense leadership and analysts to improve alerting workflow.
  • Maintain and develop engineering and security documentation.


Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Data Science or related field (or four years of additional technical cybersecurity experience).
  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience designing, building, troubleshooting, and maintaining cybersecurity tools in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn new technology concepts.
  • Experience implementing enterprise security tools including end point detection & response, SIEM, UBA, and network intrusion detection in a complex environment.
  • Experience automating existing tasks using scripts and/or modifying existing scripts to work in new environments.
  • Knowledge of the Linux OS and experience performing administrative tasks using the command line.
  • Knowledge of enterprise networks, their design, and supporting protocols.
  • A strong collaboration mindset.
