We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst with a keen inquiring mind, proven quantitative abilities, strong oral and written communications skills, and an interest and desire to make a meaningful contribution to improving transportation and transportation safety by solving/evaluating transportation-related issues, to work on projects with our Federal partners at the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center located in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in collecting, prepping/cleansing, and analyzing large data sets to provide technical and analytical support for research initiatives and decision-making at multiple levels for government agencies and/or industry.  Strong background working with R, SQL and either Tableau or PowerBI are required. 

The position requires experience and in-depth knowledge of analytical thinking and the application of various approaches and tools to support results of analysis, including modeling and statistical tools to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns and trends in very large and complex data sets.  Please note this is a 100% remote full-time position.

Qualifications:

• US work authorization
• 8+ years of experience in data analysis
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field of study.
• Experience with collaborating on teams to identify, assess, and solve business problems
• Proven strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Curious and inquisitive
• Experience with cleansing and preparing data
• Experience with analyzing, extracting, and aggregating structured and unstructured data
• Expertise in statistics and statistical package tools
• Knowledge of and experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, etc.
• Expertise in analyzing, visualizing, and explaining data for presentations, reports, and dashboards
• Experience with data programming languages and tools like SQL Developer, Oracle, Python, R, MATLAB, etc.
• Technical proficiency in database design and modeling
• Proven writing and verbal communications skills
