Role/Responsibilities

The Senior Data Analyst will be an integral part of the US Public Finance Group Data & Analytics Team (PFG D&A) and will provide ratings data, portfolio and operational support. PFG D&A is responsible for tracking, reporting, and analyzing data for a portfolio of over 13,000 issuers of municipal debt. The role contributes to an array of data driven reporting, tools and components in support of the ongoing monitoring of the ratings portfolio. The role offers the jobholder a central view into the US Public Finance Group's rating activity, an opportunity to work with a range of people across the department, including credit analysts and managers, as well as the ability to showcase initiative and to make a difference by ensuring that capabilities are in place to help the team operate efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitors data management tools and reporting components within the team's surveillance framework
  • Provides high level data and analytical support for the surveillance of a large ratings portfolio
  • Utilizes data management tools such as Excel, Access, R, SQL and Generative AI for purposes of querying and managing large and complex data sets
  • Develops dashboards and BI tools for the presentation of key insights and summary-level reporting to management
  • Manages workflow components of ratings progressing through surveillance processes
  • Monitors and audits ratings and portfolio metadata quality
  • Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Manages the preparation and dissemination of management reports
  • Maintains the analytical integrity and accuracy of data components and makes suggestions to strengthen existing components and processes
  • Consults with managers and analysts to better understand analytic and data needs
  • Collaborates with IT teams and engineers to implement new functionality and to troubleshoot systems and data issues
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key contacts from other teams within the company such as Information Technology, Global Middle Office, and Data and Analytics
  • Serves as a resource for managers and analysts regarding core responsibilities
  • Contributes to special projects, methodology updates and publications

Qualifications

  • BA required in Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or Accounting with 3-5 years of relevant work experience or graduate degree (e.g, MBA, Master's) with 1-3 years of experience
  • Proficient in Excel, Access, PowerPoint, R and Python
  • Experience in working with large and complex data sets
  • Aptitude for maintaining data accuracy and integrity
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proactively seeks out challenges and is able to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and prioritize tasks accordingly, independently balancing conflicting priorities.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $ [ 63,100 ] to $ [ 91,450 ], depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody's also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
