What is the opportunity?
Business Risk Oversight is aligning with RBC's mission to build a data driven organization by developing data-based insights to identify and better anticipate risks in the business. This initiative will improve the department's ability to make informed decisions through ad-hoc analyses and sustainable data and analytics solutions.
The Sr. Data Analyst will work with stakeholders to evaluate needs, define project requirements, assist with creating new analytical solutions, and enhance existing processes.
What will you do?
- Determine appropriate methodologies to identify, acquire, cleanse, analyze, and visualize data
- Establish connectivity between disparate data sources for a variety of complex scenarios and areas of potential risk
- Summarize results of the data and make recommendations to stakeholders around minimizing risks
- Work both collaboratively and independently to prepare and distribute reports, delivering insights to business leaders to enhance the decision-making process
- Partner with cross-functional, global stakeholders to share knowledge and accelerate capabilities across US Wealth Management
- Assist with conceptualization and development of new data-driven insights solutions with broad applicability across the organization
- Document methods and procedures and contribute to defining best practices and standards for data analysis and visualization, adhering to appropriate data security and privacy protocols
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or related area of focus, or comparable work experience
- 2-5 years of data and analytics experience, including proficiency with database queries and tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, and Business Objects
- Expertise in data acquisition, analysis, and visualization, as well as statistical analysis and modeling
- 2-5 years of experience with relational database systems and SQL
- Expertise on ETL concepts and execution experience
Nice-to-have
- Self-motivated, inquisitive in nature, with strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical audiences
- Ability to take initiative, function independently, and work in a team
- Foundational knowledge of the financial services industry, including products and services

Job Summary
Identifies and collects data sources, analyzes and extracts key data and information, evaluates and monitors data quality to meet the organization's information system needs and requirements. Applies extensive, in-depth knowledge, skills, and practices to perform complex assignments.
