Senior Data Engineer

ADP is hiring a Senior Data Engineer!

In this role, you will work with the development team to gather details on data requirements and use that information to extract and transform data from external systems and load them in others and build and optimize data pipelines for ADP's cloud-based Human Resource solutions. This role is critical to ensuring we deliver high-quality data that drives decision-making and enhances customer usability.

You'll work within an agile team using modern data engineering tools and frameworks to create robust data architectures and integrate various data sources. Your role requires you to advocate for necessary changes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our data solutions.

In addition, you'll integrate basic NLP techniques into ETL processes to handle unstructured data and work closely with the Data Science team to improve data quality for advanced analytics and model training. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining and optimizing our databases and delivering high-quality data products that drive decision-making.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Data Lake Management: Oversee and maintain our data lake to ensure efficient data storage, accessibility, and security.

ETL & NLP: Design and implement ETL pipelines, incorporating basic NLP techniques to process and transform unstructured data into actionable formats.

Database Management: Manage and optimize relational databases, including performance tuning, indexing, and monitoring.

Data Pipelines: Build scalable, automated data pipelines to support diverse business needs.

Collaboration & Mentorship: Collaborate with developers, data scientists, and stakeholders, advocating for best practices. Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of learning and innovation.

Agile Development: Work in two-week sprints, adhering to coding standards and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality solutions.

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:

You'll have a bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Proven experience in:

• ETL processes and data pipeline development
• Database performance tuning (e.g., SQL, indexing)
• Operationalizing datasets for performance and accessibility
• Familiarity with NLP techniques applied to data cleaning, transformation, and extraction.
• Strong problem-solving skills, a creative mindset, and the ability to adapt to evolving challenges.
• Experience working in Agile environments with a focus on delivering iterative improvements.

Preferred Skills:

• AWS Glue and RDS (PostgreSQL)
• Data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau
• Exposure to large-scale data lake architectures and cloud environments
