Senior Data Engineer

Garda is looking for a Senior Data Engineer in its Research and Technology (R&T) group based out of our New York office.

The R&T team is responsible for all of the firm's applications & infrastructure including analytics, portfolio and risk management. The selected candidate will be experienced in processing and manipulating data, developing scalable and performant data delivery systems, data APIs and platforms. This position requires proficiency and experience in software development using Python or Microsoft .Net based technologies. While prior business knowledge is not mandatory, capital markets related experience will be a plus. 

Additional responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

• Developing a keen understanding of the data and how it is being utilized in our systems, analytics, and investment process
• Working with developers, traders, and portfolio managers across the organization to onboard interesting new datasets
• Build and maintain stable data pipeline to support Garda’s trading and business activities
• Work with a variety of vendors to deliver data across the full landscape of market data, from streaming real-time to static, reference and historical data
• Collaborate with developers and business partners across Garda’s global offices to design and architect solutions.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or Finance
• 7+ years of development using either Python, C# or C+
• 7+ years of database, SQL, ORM experience
• Must be comfortable with development across the application stack
• Ability to complete complex projects independently
• Detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a high-energy, time sensitive team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of fixed income trading and related financial instruments including bonds and interest rate derivative products
• Experience with Excel, Excel VBA, Bloomberg
