We’re proud to have recently secured additional outside capital to accelerate our growth and fund the continued development of differentiated, market leading navigation tools. To support this, we’re seeking an experienced and driven Senior Data Engineer to join us on the journey helping millions understand and optimize their health plan options.
Data Engineers at Amino are the backbone of our organization. They ingest, transform, and curate large and complex data that powers our products. We are in the process of adding new forms of data to add new product offers as well as improving our current products. In order to support this, we are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to help us lead the way toward building the most competitive and compliant healthcare guidance products on the market.Â
- Work directly with Product Managers, Architects and senior leadership to turn high-level requirements into detailed plans.
- Integrate new vendor and internal sources of data into our ETL pipelines
- Build out the next generation of our editorial tools to create and correct data about health entities
- Modernizing our orchestration infrastructure, leveraging open source tools like dbt and Dagster
Impact you will have:
- You'll revamp and expand critical data pipelines that drive current and future products.
- You’ll mentor other data engineers.
- You’ll collaborate closely with data scientists and software engineers in adjacent teams.
- You’ll Influence the fundamentals of how we model and warehouse data that is accessed by most teams across the company.
- You’ll use modern data stack technologies to develop the foundation of Amino's next generation data assets.
Technologies you will be working with:
Snowflake, Python 3, dbt, Docker, AWS, Looker, Databricks, Spark, Jenkins CI/CD, Airflow, Dagster, Terraform, PostgreSQL, RDS, Elasticsearch and Kinesis
- You are able to design and implement solutions that scale and can be maintained by others.
- You can refractor and or simplify existing processes to improve maintainability and efficiency.
- You’re experienced with a variety of relational and non-relational databases
- You are comfortable writing clean, well-tested code in Python
- You have experience handling and working with large datasets and the tools to manage them
- You have worked with ETL pipelines before and are familiar with modeling and data warehousing best practices including data modeling. Experience with dbt is to maintain pipelines is preferred.
- You value and practice collaboration and feedback. You question and seek feedback on your own work and opinions.
- Your documentation and verbal communication skills are excellent. You can communicate technical vision in clear terms to your peers as well as outside of the engineering team
Bonus if you bring the following:
- Experience dealing with data retention policies
- Experience monitoring Data Quality and working with Operational Analytics
- Experience handling sensitive data (PHI or PII)
- Experience with Apache Airflow and Dagster
- Deep experience in the healthcare domain, specifically dealing with healthcare claims data

- Expected base salary: $170k to $195k plus standard company benefits and a generous option grant. Amino values transparency and has included the reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this full-time role at any approved US location. Individual pay is determined by a range of factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, licensure or certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Amino does not typically hire at or near the top of a salary range.
- We offer full-time employees 100% paid employee healthcare premiums; dependent premium coverage depends on the plan.
- 401(k) and FSA programs.
- This position, like all roles at the firm, will have a good deal of autonomy. We’re a remote-first team and have designed our culture for a balance of synchronous and asynchronous work with people operating from all over the country. To support your remote office, we provide every new Amino with a generous office set-up allowance plus a monthly stipend for internet/phone.
- PTO is non accrual and we expect Amino’s to take a minimum of 15 days a year.Â
