Senior Data Engineer

The Role 

We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join the global Cloud Data Platform team at Schonfeld. The team is re-envisioning Schonfeld’s platform including the data-processing pipeline, research and back-testing infrastructure in the cloud. The platform is designed to allow PMs to analyze data, back test their strategies and deploy them to production seamlessly.                                            

What you’ll do 

The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and optimizing functionality within the Cloud Data Platform.  You will create new functionality within our data processing pipelines – which could be integrating new data formats, creating new analytic tools, or enhancing parallel compute capabilities.  You will work on POCs and investigate new technologies.  You will collaborate with Portfolio Managers as well as the data science and data ops teams to identify functionality and access gaps in loading data sets and ensure they are closed.

What you need:

• Expert level Python scripting and module creation/maintenance
• Experience with high volume, high availability distributed systems
• Experience implementing and deploying on the cloud – AWS highly preferred
• Experience mentoring junior engineers
• Experience and ability to work as part of an L3 support rotation
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Highly skilled and analytical problem solver with logical thought processes and quantitative aptitude
• Strong ownership experience and a track record of delivering results

• Experience working with financial data

Schonfeld Strategic Advisors is a multi-manager platform that invests its capital with Internal and Partner portfolio managers, primarily on an exclusive or semi-exclusive basis, across four trading strategies; quantitative, fundamental equity, tactical trading and discretionary macro & fixed income. We have created a unique structure to provide global portfolio managers with autonomy, flexibility and support to best enable them to maximize the value of their businesses.

In 2021 we launched our newest strategy, discretionary macro & fixed income as part of the continual growth of Schonfeld’s investible universe. Our portfolio exposure has expanded across the Americas, Europe and Asia as well as multiple asset classes and products.

The base pay for this role is expected to be between $150,000 and $250,000. The expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation such as a performance bonus and a competitive benefits package. Actual compensation for the successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of factors such as skills, qualifications and experience.
