Senior Data Engineer

Position Overview

Outset is seeking a talented Senior Data Engineer to assist with driving a robust and optimal data architecture that integrates with operational and data analytical processes. We are looking for someone with the ability to integrate multiple heterogeneous data sources to build efficient, flexible, and scalable data warehouse and reporting solutions. In this role, you will serve as the expert in designing, implementing, and operating a stable, scalable, low-cost environment to flow information from the data warehouse into end-user facing reporting applications. Above all, you will bring large datasets together to answer business questions and drive data-driven decision making. To ensure success in this role you should be fluent in data engineering and software engineering to build reliable, distributed data pipelines and intuitive data models that allow our stakeholders to easily leverage data in an effective manner. Ideal candidates must have excellent problem-solving skills, a high degree of attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and with solid experience in developing conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

• Build data pipeline infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL, cloud based relational or non-relational databases.
• Build complex data platforms, and large-scale CI/CD data pipelines utilizing a variety of technologies.
• Analyzing and translating business needs into long-term solution data models.
• Managing data definition, usage, quality, metrics for data attributes, data models and data dictionary and ensuring/ measuring to follow all the data architecture standards.
• Collaborating and participating in discussions with business analysts, technical architects, and technical leads to develop data models and data architecture flows.
• Evaluate data models and physical databases for variance and discrepancies and validate business data objects for accuracy and completeness.
• Work with platform, information security architects and data privacy leaders to design and enhance cloud data infrastructure to address security, PII and data reliability concerns.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science, or a similar field, or an equivalent combination of education (Bachelor’s degree) and related work experience.
• 5-8 years of experience as a Data Engineer, Data Architect, or Backend Software Engineer.
• Hands-on experience in data warehousing design, ETL/ELT, BI process development preferred.
• Proficiency in SQL as well as NoSQL database technologies. Experience with AWS data analytics tools preferred
• Proficient in Python, experience with scalable cloud development (Spark, Kafka, etc.), ability to maintain high quality coding standards

• Must be approachable, show respect for others, and be able to present data effectively to different audiences.
• Flexible in daily schedule, tasks required and problem solving, while maintaining compliance with company policies and procedures

The Annual Salary Range for this role will be:  $114,750 - $155,250
