The Opportunity
The Data Engineer will be part of the Data Pipeline team to help build out our big data infrastructure. Â The individual selected will play the lead role in creating our Spark framework and will work closely with Platform Architects to go from an Event Source data model, into Spark, and out to SQL. Â
This person is a programmer, not someone who just sets up and maintains a Spark cluster.
What someone will need to be successful in this role
- 5+ years of hands-on Business Intelligence / Data Warehousing experience
- Strong demonstrated experience with Big Data primarily PySpark
(nice to have AWS, Spark, Python, EMR, ETC.)Â
- 1 year plus of experience building high-performance algorithms in scalable languages such as Scala, Python and R
- Proficient in writing technical specifications and documentation.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to identify, troubleshoot and resolve production data integrity and performance issues.
Responsibilities
- Research new technology and share knowledge with team and peers
- Design, implement and release data applications in AWS using big data technologies.
- Coordinate development efforts across the organization
- Influence team in development standards and processes
- Teach and mentor peers.
- Other duties as assigned.
