Salary Range:

$105,500.00 - $194,500.00

Position: Senior Data Engineer

Location: San Leandro, CA - Hybrid

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design and implement data pipelines to integrate information from diverse source systems across R&D software development platforms. By consolidating, cleansing, and structuring data for use in analytics and reporting applications, particularly Microsoft's Power BI, you will make data easily accessible to stakeholders and internal customers. Your excellent communication skills, adaptability, and commitment to collaboration will ensure your success in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement end-to-end data collection, intake, and processing systems.
  • Develop data pipelines to integrate data from various systems seamlessly.
  • Optimize data structures and organization for specific reporting needs.
  • Leverage ETL tools and REST-oriented APIs to create and manage data integration jobs.
  • Translate end-user requirements into technical implementation with a focus on Power BI development.
  • Design and maintain efficient data models, schemas, and database structures for optimized storage.
  • Create prototypes and mockups to facilitate collaborative decision-making.
  • Manage Power BI Services deployment pipelines and workspace management.
  • Work with diverse data sources, including Cosmos DB, Excel, SQL Server, Azure SQL, SharePoint Lists/Libraries, and Azure DevOps REST APIs.
  • Implement change management and source control for Power BI reports.
  • Maintain a general understanding of Azure DevOps work management and CI/CD processes related to Power BI.

Essential Skills:

  • Proven experience in end-to-end data collection, intake, and processing.
  • Demonstrated ability to build data pipelines and integrate data from various systems.
  • Aptitude for structuring and organizing data for specific reporting needs.
  • Strong understanding of ETL tools and REST-oriented APIs for creating and managing data integration jobs.
  • Ability to translate end-user requirements into technical implementation with a focus on Power BI.
  • Experience designing and maintaining efficient data models, schemas, and database structures for optimized storage.
  • Proficiency in designing prototypes and mockups.
  • Familiarity with various data sources, including Cosmos DB, Excel, SQL Server, Azure SQL, SharePoint Lists/Libraries, and Azure DevOps REST APIs.
  • General understanding of Azure DevOps work management and CI/CD processes related to Power BI.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Data Factory for designing collection pipelines.
  • SQL T-SQL experience writing SPs and Views.
  • Knowledge of data security best practices.
  • Experience working with Cosmos DB for data storage and retrieval.
  • Familiarity with datamart design and implementation.
  • Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for data integration and transformation.
  • Proficiency in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) for report generation and management.
