Here’s why we need your help

Our data team is growing, with ambitions to grow our data platform capabilities and help more users find accurate treatment for their mental health and addiction needs. We need a Data Engineer to own our data analytics platform, allowing us to make informed data decisions company-wide.

Work Location

This hybrid role is required to be in office 2-3 days a week. Flexibility to work from home occasionally.

How you know you’re being successful

  • You own and completely understand our data analytics platform, being able to own database administration tasks, debug issues and optimize data pipelines
  • You are able to maintain and tune our databases for optimal performance
  • You are able to perform data quality and recommend best practices to address the gaps
  • You are training other departments and functional users on how to access various data assets and able to address their data needs by themselves

We’ll expect you to do things like these:

  • Own administration and maintenance of Snowflake and Postgres databases
  • Ad Hoc data pull requests for functional teams to automate recurring requests
  • Build and maintain ETL data pipelines
  • Be the technical point of contact on all things related to Data and be able to address queries from functional teams
  • Work with data analysts on various BI and Analytics initiatives and can build data models customized to particular use cases
  • Automation of third party data ingestion including data quality checks and related reporting
  • Document and maintain artifacts on existing data pipelines and enhancements
  • Establishing and documenting processes concerning data governance; identifying data gaps and data quality issues and running sessions with business teams to address these either in source systems or through data automation jobs in the data warehouse

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years as a Data Engineer, preferably in a Start-up environment
  • Familiarity with AWS or any other Cloud technology and related infrastructure
  • Expert in SQL and is well-versed with Python
  • Expert in administration activities of Snowflake and Postgres (RDS) databases

  • Excellent professional communication and etiquette skills
  • Experience in having technical conversations with Functional teams and being able to help them understand the dependencies
  • Experience in a start-up environment
  • Experience in building data pipelines using AWS or any other cloud tech stack

Travel Expectations

Twice a year for company gatherings. 

Compensation

The base salary range this position is $120,000 - 150,000/yr, plus eligible benefits. Compensation may be adjusted based on tenure and experience.

Equity Options

In addition to your cash compensation, you will receive options to buy stock in Recovery.com at a set strike price. These options will vest on a four-year schedule and present an exciting opportunity to benefit from the upside of our company’s growth. 

Quarterly Bonus

An additional 10% of base earnings is paid out quarterly when the company meets its revenue target. 

Dane County Housing Stipend

We strongly value in-person work and collaboration, so for full-time employees residing in Dane County, we offer a housing stipend of $689/month in addition to your salary ($8,268/yr; half of the Fair Market Value of a 2BR apartment in Madison according to rentdata.org).
