The opportunity:

This team is part of Markel International’s Data Services team, which is the department responsible for building our cloud-based end state data architecture. This role is part of a small data engineering team, meaning this role creates a significant impact in the way Markel designs and delivers their data solutions.

What you’ll be doing:

You will be responsible for understanding the current state of system functionality and domain best practices, assessing the needs of stakeholders including our external business partners, contributing to solution designs, and developing the solutions needed to achieve desired business outcomes. You will operate in an agile, collaborative environment that values your insight, encourages you to take on new responsibility, promotes continuous learning, and rewards innovation.

This role will assist with design & development of Azure Data offerings such as Databricks, Delta Tables, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake etc.

Our must-haves:

• Experience delivering cloud solutions using Azure Databricks

• Strong experience in creating scripts in SQL and Python

• Azure experience (Storage Accounts, Azure functions, etc), Spark and SQL Server

• Exposure to DevOps concepts & associated CI/CD tools

• Pragmatic thinking, keen on self-development
